“To be or not to be” in the Winters Shakespeare Workshop?  That  is the question teens will be asking this month.  Signups are currently being taken for this workshop, sponsored by Winters Friends of the Library.  It’s a 5 week summer acting workshop (June 16-July20) for teens ages 13-19.  The cost is $250, but there are scholarships available.  And get your southern accents ready because the performance of Midsummer Night’s Dream will be set in Nashville!   The application deadline is May 10, and applications can be downloaded at the Winters Friends of the Library web site (www.wfol.org) .  For more information, call Mary Lou Linville at 795-3476.
The armchairs at the library continue to fly around the globe, thanks to the Armchair Travel Series that WFoL is hosting.  Starting at 7 pm on May 16 at the library we’ll travel to Croatia with Pat Thompson and Sweden with Stephanie Myers and Garry Douglas. Both presentations will be accompanied by slides of the regions.  In June Linda Glick and Elliot Landes will take us to Peru and Cedar Seegar will take us to Tibet.  Last month we learned fascinating tidbits about life in Pakistan and India.  The talks are free but donations are gladly accepted.   For more information, call Sally Brown at 795-3617.
“Hey now!  Hey now!  Go to the library!”  Those words continue to resound in the heads of all those WFoLers who participated in our Youth Day parade entry this year.  And what fun we had as we danced down Main Street dressed in costumes from around the world, proudly waving the national flags, and the band (led by Keith Cary) playing Iko Iko.  Sally Brown organized the parade entry, and her costume closet is overflowing now.  We won Best Novelty Marching Unit because yes!  We were quite novel.  If you want to see for yourself, a video is posted on UTube.
Dia de lost Ninos on April 25th was a wonderful success.  The library was overflowing with children and adults as they listened to an author presentation, and they were wowed by Aztec dancers from Esparto.   Then it was on to crafts, snacks and read-alouds.  WFoL collaborated with library staff for this event.
Want to have some WFoL fun?  Visit our web site (www.wfol.org).  There you can join our email list, find out about our monthly meetings, volunteer, choose one of 3 ways to donate, go shopping for WFoL donation books on Amazon, and even “like” us on Facebook.   And check out our Facebook page for some great pictures of the parade.
Our monthly meeting will be May 6 at 7 pm at the library.  We try to keep it short, sweet, and fun.  So join us!  Everyone is welcome.
